Although he was an international presence, he will be remembered by me for his pivotal role in the re-drafting of Nova Scotia's Bill 59, the Accessibility Act.
He presided over a contentious crew of supporters and his calm and gracious manner brought agreement. I believe it was the first case of advocates playing a central role in legislation.
People attended in person, by Zoom and by telephone. Dal Law provided the space, and Steve provided a vision of what could be done. Nova Scotia has a major share of high-achieving people with disabilities and Steve is a bright star in that firmament.
